Week 34- Surrounded by Friends!

baby-shower

This past weekend, my friends at work arranged an awesome baby shower! Nicole opened her home to so many of our friends at Atlanta International School who have been so supportive of me through my pregnancy. No surprise- Charlotte, Leigh, Lanie, Sandy, Rachel, and Nicole totally outdid themselves and put together such a fun party- from onesie cupcakes, to baby pacifier necklaces (a game where you got to take other peoples’ necklaces from them every time they said the word “baby”), to wonderful food, to a day that made me smile for many. I mentioned earlier in my blog that is so refreshing to work with people who truly love kids. From the male French teacher, the ever-funny Thierry, who greets me in the hall and reminds me to take care of myself since in his words, “I am carrying life,” to my Spanish teacher friend, Ilse, who fondly refers to my big belly as “Panzona”, they all have been so great to me. As I sat at the shower on Saturday surrounded by so many people who are so supportive, I realized how fortunate I was to work with such amazing and inspiring people, and feel so lucky to have landed this job seven years ago (thanks, Sandy!).

Also at the shower this weekend were so many of my dear college friends- Kristin, who I went to high school with in Savannah and then to college with at Mercer and then we ultimately just followed the same path- same sorority, worked in college admissions, and then moved onto working in high schools; Kristy, my roommate for about six years of my life who I shared everything with from stories and shoes; Shanna, also one of my sorority sisters, who I loved just hanging outside of the sorority house chilling in a hammock enjoying a lazy afternoon and lots of laughs; Heather, another sorority sister, who has been with me in Atlanta this entire time, and who has more stories on me than anyone I know and who we have shared so many fun memories together; Courtney, my UGA colleague and friend who still makes me smile when she says, “Hi, Friend” and who is glowing through her pregnancy as she is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby girl in May. After the baby shower on Saturday, Heather hosted us all to dinner at Serpas in midtown Atlanta. We enjoyed catching up on what has been going on in our lives, as well as laughing at some very funny college stories!

Many thanks to my friends- old and new- for being with me in this special time. I can’t wait for you all to meet Baby Jones:) I almost slipped out with her name while I was typing….but I didn’t!!!!

Sorry for all of the pictures, but as a non-facebooker, just wanted to share with everyone here!
