Christmas part 2…Atlanta

This was our first Christmas as a family of three (well, make that four with little Cady). We stayed in Atlanta for Christmas, and although it was simple in terms of people, food and gifts, it was probably one of the richest and most fulfilling experiences to date! To celebrate Christmas with a little baby is so fun. All of our joy was focused in on that one little munchkin, her big smile, and an undying love for eating wrapping paper, bows and empty boxes! Although Zoë didn’t know much about what was going on this holiday, we wanted to create our own traditions that started with her very first Christmas: a pancake breakfast, a morning nap, followed by Cady tearing into her stocking, Zoë trying to open and successfully chew all of her presents, and then our best attempt of getting a self-timer pic of all of us in front of the tree. From her drum filled with musical toys, to her walking imaginarium, we gave her help along the way as she explored her new toys. With tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, it was the perfect comfort food for a cold, but perfect day! After a day of napping for all of us and some lottery scratch-offs that have become a tradition in my stocking from Marshall, we finished out Christmas day with homemade barbecue and what else could be better, A Christmas Story. The ease of walking away from the movie when you need to and then catching up with it later in the 24-hour movie marathon just where you left off, makes it awesome! In addition, there’s just something about Randy overdressed for winter in that big snowsuit where he can’t put his arms down, Ralphie’s love for the red ryder air rifle, and that kid’s tongue stuck to the flagpole that can totally sum up Christmas with a smile. Hope you all had a great holiday with your family too!

  1. Yup….looked pretty similar in Charleston with Leila, although she is ok with not eating wrapping paper!! Zoe will get there too… just around the corner! It was the best Christmas possible but, to me, that’s what it’s about……children, lots of family time, animals, friends and FOOD! AND a twenty dollar winning ticket! Right! XO
