Week 37 – Pancakes, Pedicures and Packing

week37

If you were to ask me my definition of a lazy weekend, it would definitely include pancakes in bed! Well, we successfully had another lazy weekend! Sleeping-in followed by pancakes on both Saturday and Sunday morning- ideal in my mind:) I also ventured out for a pedicure with Heather, something I know will be a bit harder to come by once our baby arrives.

We hit 37 weeks this past Friday. Our little peanut is now considered full term, meaning all of her organs should be fully developed and ready for the outside world. She’s the size of a swiss chard this week (again, another food I don’t really relate to), and is about 19.25 inches and 6.3 pounds. I head back to the doctor again on Tuesday for my weekly check-up. I can say that I’m starting to feel more tired again, similar to my first trimester, but without the nausea. Other than that, still feeling great and just excited about what’s to come (probably a good thing, since I’m petrified of the labor and delivery part).

Knowing that we don’t have too much longer before she actually arrives, this lazy weekend was also filled with some packing. Marshall and I pulled together items for our hospital bags so that we can be ready to go when the time comes. From movies to music to pajamas to toiletries, I probably stressed most about what the baby will wear home from the hospital. I know it won’t really matter at all to our little peanut, and to be honest for us, we probably won’t care so much either- we’ll just be excited to have her with us. In addition to the bags, we started getting all of our baby gear ready- the bassinet, the stroller and car seat. Marshall installed the car seat in the Jetta and I think that is when it hit me that we were about to be parents. I’m used to looking in my back seat and seeing nothing at all, but not this time- a little life will be counting on me.

Marshall just finished up his third parenting book, Baby Wise, and I’m still on the second but learning lots! Marshall has been absolutely wonderful and so supportive throughout this entire pregnancy- from building items for the nursery, to preparing to be a great dad by reading books, to giving into my constant cravings for Mexican food, to his latest goal, wanting grass in our backyard by the time the baby arrives. Little peanut, you have an awesome dad just waiting for you!

So, for now, we continue to wait….Hope y’all had a wonderful Easter!
