A Crenshaw Melon- yep, that’s what Ms. Peanut is compared to this week. If you’re like me, I had to google what a crenshaw melon actually was. In case you’re curious, it looks a lot like a honeydew melon. Our little peanut weighs about 6 pounds this week and is estimated to be about 18.5 inches long. At the end of this week, she’ll be considered full term- 37 weeks!

Not too much to report from week 36…Here are a few highlights:
- Doctor Update: I had a great doctor’s appointment where the baby seems to measuring perfect and has a strong heartbeat. The doctor also thinks she’s in the right position, which is a really good thing! I head back to the doctor again this Tuesday.
- Lazy Weekend: Marshall and I enjoyed a truly awesome weekend- sleeping in until noon, a Saturday afternoon movie, and even a low-key Sunday lunch where we played backgammon at Ormsby’s. I acknowledge that weekends like these are numbered. I’ve already been told by so many friends that sleep doesn’t really work like a bank, so no matter how much we get now, when the baby comes, it will all change.
- Pregnancy Report: I had my first experience with Braxton Hicks contractions this weekend. Apparently they start sooner than this, but they probably weren’t strong enough for me to feel. As much as I don’t love these or the recent uncomfortable nights of sleep, I think I can honestly say that I’ll miss her not bumping around in my belly. This weekend she had several cases of hiccups, and it was really cool to feel that.
- Work Update: Things at work have been quite busy as I’m trying my best to leave my students and families in a good place when I start my maternity leave on April 20th. All of my families and colleagues have been so supportive and encouraging about my upcoming time away, and I am and will be forever grateful. I’m so looking forward to staying at home with our little girl treasuring every moment, smile, sound, tear, and not that I’m too idealistic…diapers and late nights.
- Nursery News: Marshall finished up the artwork for our gallery wall above the crib. I’ve included some photos below. Please pardon the glare from the camera….Once our chair arrives, I think we’ll finally be ready to post our finished nursery pictures.
- Laundry: Not that you would be interested in hearing about laundry, but today we gathered up all of the newborn clothes, along with blankets and towels that we’ll be using in the first couple of months and started washing everything. It’s hard to believe how those little onesies can add up to piles of laundry:)

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the beautiful weekend. Soon, we’ll be enjoying it with a little one!!! Yay!
