Our long MLK weekend was awesome, but the end of the short week didn’t end as well. When I picked Zoë up at school on Wednesday, her teachers mentioned that she hadn’t been acting like herself all day. When we got her home that night, she was running a low fever and was quite lethargic. On Thursday, she seemed to be doing better and her temperature was going down throughout the day; however, that evening it definitely spiked back up. At 104.4 we made our way to the after-hours pediatrician. She looked pretty pitiful- her little heater-like body was just laying on our shoulders with flushed cheeks. Even when she played with her favorite rattle, it hardly made any noise because she was shaking it so slow.

Overall, Zoë seems to be ok with doctor’s visits, and we have some great doctors that look after her. I think it’s the paper on the exam table that makes her the happiest though- she’ll wrap herself in it, chew on it, and rip it into pieces- all signs of a good doctor’s visit in her eyes. Turns out Zoë has an ear infection in one ear, and the doctor went ahead and prepared us that it was most likely going to hit the other ear too. We walked away with some more of “the good pink stuff” (although Zoë totally disagrees), and our hope is that she will feel better very soon.

I stayed home from school on Thursday to take care of her. Well, I use the term take care of her loosely. Sadly, she took a spill on my watch on Thursday, and on top of being sick, now she looks like she’s been beat up too. A little rug burn and a scratch- I hope it goes away as quickly as her ear infection. Other highlights of the day included reading lots of llama llama red pajama books and playing in the nursery. It was a lazy day (Cady included), but I’m happy that little Zoë is feeling better.

  1. Poor pumpkin but as the pictures rolled she looked better and better! My oldest daughter had one ear infection that spiked to 105!!! Scary. Give her a hug for me!

So sorry to hear about Zoe’s troubles! Even in sickness, she is adorable.
