our little mall walker

Now that Zoë is moving around a lot more and pulling up on things, we needed to get her some shoes to help her have better traction on our floors here at home and at daycare. She slips and slides everywhere with her little tights, and shoes can definitely help protect her from the funny splits that we have found her in.

My older sister, Kim, worked at a Stride Rite children’s shoe store in Savannah for many, many years while she was in school and her Christmas gift to Zoë was quite fitting- a gift card for her very first pair of shoes. We went to the Atlanta store and got Zoë fitted, and like every other little baby, Zoë has mastered the toe curl. She measured a size 3 in Stride Rite shoes, and with that, we were able to pick from the “early walker” shelves. I must admit that the options on the girls side were a bit out there, but we found some cute refined grey and orange ones on the boys side. Zoë looks so sporty in them, and although I’m biased, quite adorable too.

This morning as I put her in a sweater dress and tights, and her new kicks, she looked like a little mall walker- those women who makes fast-paced loops around the mall in their business attire and shiny athletic shoes. Soon, Zoë will be running past the mall walkers. Until then, she’s testing out her tennis shoes and new Tiny Toms and speeding past us!
