Christmas cheer…

For those of you who know me well, you probably are aware that Marshall refers to me as the “Sunshine Committee”. It’s true- Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, New Year’s (pretty much any holiday), I love to celebrate, send cards, and my specialty- wrap gifts! Christmas is one of my favorites, and it’s so fun this year putting it all together for our first little family Christmas. Zoë enjoyed the Christmas tradition of going with us to pick up our tree on Thanksgiving Day weekend. It was super cold (and the poor girl’s nose was running away by the time we had selected the perfect tree), but we found a nice tall 10 foot tree. In case you’re wondering, our ceilings aren’t exactly that tall, so Marshall had to lumberjack off the bottom to fit it in our house. Part of me thinks it was mislabeled at Home Depot, and stuck in the wrong pile with the 8-9 foot trees. The image featured on this blog post is from me in the backseat of the car looking up at our massively tall tree through the sunroof.

As for decorating… this year’s process took a little longer than expected, and many more trips to Target than expected too. You know how we like Target! Although we had tons of lights from Christmases past, half of them didn’t work anymore. Thank goodness, we tested them before we put them on the tree. We bought more lights, thinking that 6 strands would be enough, but not so much with our NBA-sized tree. Operation Christmas Cheer was completed 9 strands later. Zoë has a favorite branch, and greets it every morning, and says goodnight to it every night while her dad holds her in his arms. It’s kinda sweet because her eyes light up, and in true Zoë fashion, her mouth is open with a big old grin.

Happy holidays to all our friends and family!
