Week 17- Rolling, rolling, rolling

week17

I never really understood the importance of a baby having tummy time until we had one. When I would see babies on their stomachs, crying and flailing hoping someone would answer their cry and flip them back over, I always thought to myself how frustrating that must be. In general, Zoë liked tummy time, but when she was ready to flip over, she would let you know it.

Well, the time on her tummy has paid off! Zoë has grown so strong because of it, and this week (August 15th, to be exact) we were so happy to witness Zoë rolling over for the first time. We cheered as if we had just won the lottery! Although we caught her rolling all the way from her back to her tummy and then to her back again, her favorite part is just rolling once from her back to her tummy. I call her a “show-off” now because every time I put her on the ground, she starts rolling…..unless, I bring out the iPhone to try to film it.

Our days of putting Zoë down on the sofa, the bed, or the floor, and knowing that she couldn’t go anywhere are over. Next stop: crawling. Wow, we’re definitely not ready for that.

Here’s Zoë in action….
