Sweet Dreams…

I can’t really describe it in words, but….

….there’s just something about Zoë falling asleep on my chest that makes me smile!

I realize that this won’t be able to continue once Zoë hits daycare next week, but I’ll be honest in saying that we have no regrets in soaking up every last one of these moments this summer. Whether it’s an early morning sleep with me on the sofa or a late night cat nap with Marshall, there’s something so peaceful when Zoë falls asleep on our chests. It’s like she’s saying, “Hey, this is the place that feels like home. Love it and love you!” Well, maybe I’m just dreaming about what she is saying, but I do know that she is quite happy with her soft blanket underneath her cheeks, her mouth halfway open while imitating a sucking motion from her pacifier that is no longer there, and her eyes flickering as thoughts run through her head. Sweet, sweet moments.

Now, onto helping her get adjusted for daycare next week….and that brings us to good ole’ nap training. Up until this point, she has been falling asleep anywhere and everywhere- swing, bouncy seat, our chests, carseat, and playmat. We’ve been experimenting this past week with putting Zoë down in her crib for naps. We have a routine : lights off, shutters closed, sleepsack on, giraffe shooshing, and it’s been going pretty well. She takes naps in her crib about every 2-2.5 hours, and it seems to give her the right amount of sleep for the day, while also allowing her to head to bed that night for a 9-10 hours of sleep. Fingers crossed that things continue, but even as I write this, I feel like I’m going to jinx us. Let the training continue…
